Toll-free national emergency number that connects you to the police, medical and fire or rescue services. Call this first if you or someone else is in immediate danger.
Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA)
Reporting and immediate intervention for domestic and sexual violence, with legal advice, counselling and referral to medical and shelter services for survivors.
Mirabel Centre (Sexual Assault Referral Centre)
Free medical examination and treatment by trained forensic examiners after rape or sexual assault, counselling, and help reporting the case to the police, based at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, Ikeja.
NAPTIP (report trafficking and violence against persons)
National agency that receives reports of human trafficking and violence against persons and enforces the Violence Against Persons (Prohibition) Act. Use to report abuse, trafficking or gender-based violence. Confirm the current toll-free line on the official page.
FIDA Nigeria (women lawyers)
Free legal representation, counselling and advocacy for women and children, including survivors of violence and abuse.
Cece Yara Child Advocacy Centre (child sexual abuse helpline)
24-hour child helpline for children who have experienced or are at risk of sexual abuse: trained counsellors, emergency intervention, and referral for medical care and protection. The free line is for children; adults reporting on a child's behalf are asked to use the paid line.
WARIF (Women at Risk International Foundation)
24-hour confidential, toll-free helpline for survivors of rape and sexual violence, with free medical care, forensic examination, counselling and legal support at the WARIF Centre, 6 Turton Street, off Thorburn Avenue, Yaba, Lagos.
WRAPA (Women's Rights Advancement and Protection Alternative)
Women's-rights organisation offering free legal aid, counselling and support for survivors of gender-based violence, plus a confidential abuse-reporting form. Based at No. 34 Ekukinam Street, Utako, Abuja; assists women across the common-law, customary and Sharia legal systems.
